It's important to do your homework and do the research to find out exactly what kind of problems a dog breed has--and how to avoid them.

Fortunately Bichon Frises are not usually sickly dogs, but they do have a few conditions that are worth noting.

If you know about these conditions, you can ask the right questions when interviewing a breeder and you can avoid buying a dog that will be ill and expensive to maintain.

When considering a particular puppy, you should ask to see the puppy's mother. You can often see characteristics that you can expect to see in your puppy, especially if there is a noteworthy defect in the blood line.

You just can't be too careful, and your decision is very important. After all, your new puppy will be an addition to your family, and a family member for years!
