Is My Bichon Frise Crazy?

by Martha
(West Kingston, RI)

Sir Isaac

Sir Isaac

At the end of the night, right before Sir Isaac, my bichon frise, is about to settle down to sleep, he suddenly and for no apparent reason, spaces out and starts growling and running in circles around the house at top speed. He does this for about two minutes, then he crashes.

He also does it after baths(He does not like being wet and will 'hold it' for days to avoid having to go out in the rain).

My question is: Is this normal behavior for this breed? I mean, it's hillarious but I wonder if he has a screw loose.

Sir Isaac gets plenty of exercise during the day. We run several miles a day together. I've had dogs my whole life, but not small breeds, and I've not seen this behavior before.
Thanks...

Your Bichon Frise is Normal...
by: Linda

Your Bichon is doing the Bichon Buzz or Bichon Blitz.

The Bichon Buzz is a characteristic of these little white dogs. And it is one of the things that they are known for.

For some odd reason, they get tons of energy all at once--and they run around like crazy. Just like what you described Sir Isaac doing.

Often this occurs after a dog bath, but it can happen anytime.

Bichon Frise are wonderful little dogs that are full of fun. It sounds like you have a very normal Bichon Frise! He's a cutie, too.
