Crazy Little Daisey

by Nikki Poole
(Birmingham UK)

Daisey was a rescue dog.

Daisey was a rescue dog.

I first came across Daisey in a rescue center called Lucky Paws in Wiltshire in 2009.

She had only been rescued for a week.

Daisey lived on a terrible puppy farm for 4 years of her life. Her coat had once been so matted that the center had to shave it off. She was stained yellow through being caged in her own filth, but thanks to Lucy at Lucky Paws, Daisey was saved.

When i first saw her face, I knew I had to take her home.

I have had Daisey for just over a year now. And it is only in the last month that she has learned to run. Oh those little ears flapping up and down!

Daisey loves to follow my 2 mad Westies down the garden to bark at the squirrels.

It has taken quite some time for Daisey to learn how nice life can be, but she's the sweetest little dog you could ever wish for--very loyal.

Also in the first 5 months we had her, she couldn't walk far. After 5 minutes of walking, she would sit down, worn out. So I'd carry her so she could enjoy being outside in the green and open spaces.

She can now walk quite a way.

People don't always understand and they make comments about Daisey. They don't know her story or understand how she was once a puppy farm dog, caged in her own dirt and not knowing a loving pat or kind word in her tiny little cage.

But now she has all the love she needs. She's my crazy little Daisey.
